Enid Leighton
Te Pou Turuki o Matangireia - General Manager
Enids leadership skills are focussed upon the achievement of fulfilling the potential of individuals within the organisation she manages, the sector she is working within and her whanau, hapu and Iwi. In essence this means creating an environment that empowers people to develop and share a vision for the organisation or community and together drive the necessary strategies that will achieve that shared vision and its associated outcomes.
Examples whanau, hapu & Iwi :
• Claim Wai 79 – Awakeri Hot Springs, Claim Manager Negotiator 1994 – completed 2004
• Ngati Awa Social & Health Services Trust – General Manager 1998 - current
Ngati Awa Social & Health Services provides an opportunity for Enid to lead not only within the sector of health & social service provision but also in terms of the wider Iwi of Ngati Awa locally, regionally and nationally. She has provided submissions to select committees, papers and presentations to national conferences, and advice and guidance to numerous working parties on behalf of Ngati Awa. The provision of high level advice to Government Departments and directly to Ministery’s is a reflection of knowledge, skills and credibility underpinning the “face of leadership”.
